A 7-Day Fat Flush Cabbage Soup Diet Plan: Recipe and Guidelines

The fat flush soup diet consists of undergoing a dietary plan in which a cabbage soup is the main dish. However, its use should not extend beyond seven days, because, when the consumption of other foods is suppressed, large amounts of nutrients are lost that the body requires to functioning correctly at the time of performing its vital functions.

As its name indicates, its purpose is to accelerate the burning or combustion of fats, while being excellent for purification, leading to the elimination of toxins and retained liquids. Loss of muscle volume is possible, although not alarming since the regimen also includes proteins in the days after it has started.

– Cabbage: this leafy green is composed mainly of potassium, sulfur, calcium, and acidic mineral salts. It is excellent for regulating the digestive tract, so it can relieve constipation. It is also good for skin health and contributes 40 calories per 100 grams.

– Onion: they are characterized by being depurative, contain sulfur, potassium, and phosphorus, in addition, they act as alkalizer that leads to the detoxification of the body. At the same time, it has a greater composition in water, so its caloric value is extremely low: it contributes only 20 calories per 100 grams.

– Celery: it contains chlorine, potassium, calcium, sodium, copper, and sulfur. It also has diuretic properties, which help remove excess uric acid and works as a very good tonic for the brain. Due to its composition in water, it contributes only 19 calories per 100 grams, in addition to that, the body requires a greater number of these calories so that it can be metabolized.

– Tomatoes: they are rich in potassium and Vitamin E that is ideal for skin care. They also have diuretic and revitalizing properties, as well as helping to protect the cardiovascular system. Its energy value is reduced to 19 calories per 100 grams.

– Carrots: they are rich in fiber, one of the most important substances when it comes to losing weight. Fiber cannot be digested by the body, it simply passes through the digestive system and drags other foods with it. However, the body tries to digest it anyway, so it sends more digestive enzymes and this, in turn, causes the rest of the food to digest better, have a feeling of being full for longer and accelerate metabolism. – Green peppers: they have antioxidants in the form of Vitamin C and other minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, chlorine, magnesium, sulfur, and calcium. They also provide large amounts of fiber that stimulate and prolong the sensation of satiety while supplying only 10 calories per 100 grams.

The recipe is extremely easy to prepare. The ingredients and their portions are mentioned below.

– 6 medium onions, chopped into squares

– 6 skinless tomatoes, chopped

– 3 chopped celery stalks

– 3 chopped carrots

– 2 large green peppers, chopped

– Salt and pepper to taste

– Water (mineral water can also be used)

– Add the chopped vegetables in a large saucepan with the boiling water. The volume of water covers the vegetables completely for a proper cooking.

– Cover the pan and boil the ingredients for a long period of time until they are completely cooked.

– Add salt and pepper to season.

Once ready, it can be consumed immediately, preferably hot to enhance thermogenesis. The rest can be stored in a closed container and refrigerated until the next consumption.

Due to its components, it has a valuable metabolic effect as well as a substantial contribution in vitamins and minerals that improve the metabolic rate of the organism. Some of these components are sodium and magnesium, as well as Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) working at the cellular level.

Vegetables can be eaten, whether boiled, grilled or roasted, although under no circumstances should be added greases like butter, oil spray or olive oil.

Fruit intake is not recommended on this day.

During the third day, it will be possible to ingest the soup, as well as the fruits and vegetables of the first two days, trying as always, to avoid foods rich in quickly absorbed carbohydrates.

If you have not noticed any change, do not despair, each body reacts differently, plus there is still more than half of the plan to follow.

Consumption of the fat burning soup can be limited to once a day, while the intake of meat, should rise to 500 grams in total.

The sixth day should be the same as before, giving priority to protein consumption, but do not forget to take the soup. If necessary, do not hesitate to prepare another, following the same steps as in the previous one, although with the reduced portions, since you are at the end of the regimen.

During this day you should also include the vegetables of the second day, cooking them on the grill or boiled in the same broth of the cabbage soup.

For this day it will be crucial to integrate the consumption of slow absorption carbohydrates. In this case is recommended the intake of brown rice, ensuring that its preparation does not carry an excessive amount of oil, and if possible, oil-free. To do this you must use a Teflon pan or a ceramic pan.

You can take as much soup as you want and do not forget the fruits and vegetables.

Observations

In order for this diet to work, it is very important to carry it out in the way it is indicated. At the end of the regimen, the results will be noticeable, even losing 8 to 16 pounds, although clearly, the figure may vary depending on the metabolism of each person.

Due to the cleansing properties of the vegetables included, people who suffer from fluid retention will benefit, while they will see greater weight loss compared to healthier people.

The main reason why this vegetable soup diet works is that by not consuming carbohydrates, the body is forced to use accumulated fat as its main source of energy. That, in addition to that the calories that are ingested, are intimate in comparison to those that are used for the metabolization of the food and to carry out the daily activities.

It is important that this diet is not followed for more than seven days, although it can intercalate through the weeks. That is, if it is desired, a second round can be carried out two weeks after the first one has finished. Once finished, you should follow a moderate and healthy diet to not regain lost weight.

Points to consider

– It is important to rest properly so as not to cause stress, a product of possible anxiety.

– Among other things, the consumption of the following foods should be completely avoided:

* Fruits and vegetables with a high glycemic index, unless otherwise noted.

* Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, as they interfere with the elimination of fat cells.

* The same happens with carbonated or soft drinks, including light or zero. To quench the craving you can drink natural fruit juices and without sugar.

* Biscuits, buns, pasta, and all kinds of foods made from refined flour, due to the high content of fast digesting carbohydrates.

* Sugar and all its derivatives

Before ending it is extremely important to emphasize that this cabbage soup diet plan should be considered as a last resort and should never be adopted as a constant regimen, due to the nutrient deficit it represents for the body. As mentioned above, it is ideal for patients about to undergo surgery or for those looking to reduce their volume, prior to a major event.

It is also highly recommended to consult with a medical specialist before undergoing this or any other dietary plan to assess the risks and to be able to control them if they exist.

    Ingredients

    • 6 large green onions or large red onion
    • 1-2 cans of tomatoes
    • 1 large head of cabbage
    • 2 green peppers
    • 1 bunch celery
    • rosemary & tarragon for flavoring
    • shitake mushrooms for flavoring
    • 1 hot pepper
    • 2 or 3 cloves of chopped garlic
    • 1 4 inch piece of kombu seaweed
    • vegetable bouillon (such as Bioforce’s Plantaforce)

    Spices such as rosemary, sage, thyme, tarragon or oregano can be added as desired toward the ending of cooking. Season with salt, pepper, parsley, bouillon or hot sauce, if desired. However, with the bouillon added, it probably requires little or no salt.

    Cut vegetables in small to medium pieces, sauté in olive oil and cover with water. Boil fast for 10 (ten) minutes. Reduce heat to simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender. Spices, such as rosemary, sage, thyme, tarragon or oregano, may be added as desired toward the end of cooking. Season with pepper, parsley, or hot sauce, if desired. Because of the bouillon, it will probably require little or no salt.

    This soup can be eaten any time you are hungry. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day. However, if eaten alone for indefinite periods, you would suffer from malnutrition.

    Weight Loss Program

    DAY ONE: All fruits except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only the soup and fruits. For drinks – un-sweetened tea, cranberry juice, or water.

    DAY TWO: All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with all the fresh, raw or canned vegetables. Try to eat leafy vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Eat along with the soup. At dinner time on this day, reward yourself with a big baked potato an butter. Do not eat any fruits on this day.

    DAY THREE: Eat all soup, fruits and vegetables you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten for three days, as above, and have not cheated, you will find you have lost 5-7 pounds.

    DAY FOUR: Bananas and skim milk. Eat as many as 3 bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you can on this day along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates and so is the milk, but on this particular day your body will need the potassium and the carbohydrates, proteins and calcium to lessen your craving for sweets.

    DAY FIVE: Beef or lamb and tomatoes. Try to select high quality range fed animal protein, free of antibiotics or hormones. You may have 10-20 ounces of beef or lamb and a can of tomatoes or as many as 6 fresh tomatoes on this day. Try to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water on this day to wash away the uric acid in your body. Eat the soup at least once this day. You may substitute either wheat gluten (seitan) for the beef or lamb, or adzuki beans, chicken or fish.

    DAY SIX: Beef or lamb & vegetables. Eat to your heart’s content of the beef or lamb and vegetables on this day. You can have two or three steaks if you like, with green leafy vegetables, but no baked potato. Be sure and eat the soup at least once on this day. You may substitute either wheat gluten (seitan) for the beef or lamb, or adzuki beans, chicken or fish.

    DAY SEVEN: Brown rice, un-sweetened fruit and vegetables. Again, stuff yourself. Be sure to have the soup at least once today.

    By the end of the seventh day, if you have not cheated on the diet, you will have lost 10-17 pounds. If you have lost more than 15 pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet again at day one.

    This seven-day eating plan can be used as often as you like. As a matter of fact, if correctly followed, it will clean your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being as never before.

    After only seven days of this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 lbs. and possibly as much as 17 lbs. Having an abundance of energy, continue this plan as long as you wish and feel the difference.

    This diet is a fast way to burn off fat and the secret is that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking alcoholic beverages at any time because of the removal of fat buildup in your system. Go off the diet at least 24 hours before any intake of alcohol

    Because everyone’s digestive system is different, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you did not cheat. After being on the diet for several days, you will find your bowel movements have changed — eat a cup of bran or fiber. You may even find that you don’t need caffeine after the third day.

    DEFINITE NO-NO’S – BREAD, ALCOHOL, CARBONATED DRINKS INCLUDING DIET DRINKS.

    STICK WITH WATER, UN-SWEETENED TEA, BLACK COFFEE, UN-SWEETENED FRUIT JUICES, CRANBERRY JUICE AND SKIMMED MILK.

    The basic fat-burning soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry. Eat as much as you wish. Remember, the more you eat, the more you will lose. No fried foods or bread. You can eat broiled chicken (absolutely no skin) instead of beef. Vegetarians can use adzuki or mung beans, seitan.

    Any prescribed medication will not hurt you on this diet. Continue this plan as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally and physically. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef on the other days.

    One of the best herbal formulas to use during this fast is Triphala. Take from 2 to 4 tablets morning and midday and 4 in the evening. Instead of coffee or tea use a grain beverage. A very good fasting tea is a combination of nettles, chickweed and fennel seed, which also helps in weight reduction. There are many excellent green drinks and soya protein powders that can be used to supplement as needed or to replace the meat.

    To keep the weight off, replace one meal a day with soup and eat more vegetables.

    This diet is derived from one given at the Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital for overweight heart patients to lose weight rapidly, usually before surgery. Modifications have been added by Dr. Michael Tierra, Acupuncturist and Herbalist.

    I've recently had a spike of searches for this seven-day-eat-all-you-like diet (not sure how they end up on my blog, but they do) . it's not something I've ever done myself, and I'm not sure I'd want to. But I'd be interested to know what you all think about it .

    1 large head cabbage

    1 package onion soup mix

    several bay leaves

    Here's the first comment, which I received in the form of an email from a thin and glamorous friend . first hand experience of this diet:

    Day 2 Unlimited veg plus a jacket potato with butter (but I use the butter allowance to stir fry some veg, but this is not strictly permitted)

    Day 4 Skimmed mild and 8 bananas (I use the milk in my coffee, but again this isn't strictly permitted)

    Day 5 Unlimited tomatoes and up to 12 oz beef

    Day 6 Unlimited veg plus up to 16 oz beef

    Day 7 Unlimited vegetables and brown rice.

    As a nutritionist I would say that is a load of rubbish!

    p.s Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital (where the diet supposedly originated) have even issued a press release saying that they have nothing to do with it and that they do not consider it to be healthy or safe:

    Between them, Sophie and my friend have given us the definitive view of the 7-day fat-burning-soup, eat-all-you-like diet . it's effective but not very good for you; it's hard to stick to and not something you should do for more than a week at once; it's not something doctors or dieticians would recommend. Everything we knew, really.

    I did this diet once when I had a special occasion and I needed to lose weight fast. I lost around 6 kilos in a week. As soon as I began to eat normally again, I put it all back on, and more. It made me feel a bit weak and light-headed as well. And you'll never want to eat cabbage again.

    hi,i am trying your diet right now,and i was just woundering does the soup stay good for the whole 7 days or do i need to make more after 2 days?i just stared the diet on 1-12-08.and i made a whole pot full of this soup.

    I recently found this diet plan in the form of a pre-internet printout tucked inside an old cookbook. It's titled as the "American Heart Association Diet for Overweight Heart Patients" and is explained as a detox diet. Makes sense for some, maybe junkfood addicts, to use it as a jumpstart prelude to a more balanced diet.
