How to Lose Weight Fast on Chicken Soup Diet

The chicken soup diet is a seven-day diet plan for weight loss. The main premise of the diet is that, other than breakfast, all meals consist of chicken soup. The diet provides a recipe for chicken soup and gives five different breakfast options. Several different versions of the chicken soup diet exist, and some recommend using the diet for longer than seven days, depending on the amount of weight you wish to lose.

Eat a light breakfast to improve your chances of losing weight with the chicken soup diet. As breakfast is the only meal of the day that does not consist of chicken soup, it is the only opportunity to consume other foods. Possible healthy options include nonfat yogurt, fruit salad, whole grain cereal or oatmeal, nonfat milk, and fresh fruit juice.

Prepare the soup. Heat olive oil and water in a large soup pot. Add garlic, salt, pepper and celery to the pot. Cook on medium for 15 minutes, then add carrots, onions, chicken broth and lemon juice. Bring the pot to a boil, then turn down the heat and allow to simmer for five minutes. A full pot can create up to 26 one-cup servings.

Introduction

Ingredients

    8 50g pieces boneless skinless chicken breast

2 cloves garlic minced

1 shallot diced

1 14oz can of diced tomato

1 tsp dried basil

.25 tsp dried oregano

.5 tsp dried thyme

1/2 head cabbage shredded

.25 cup white wine(optional)

1.5 cup chicken both

Salt and Pepper

2 TBS shredded fresh basil

2 TBS fresh chopped flat leaf parsley

Directions

Turn Down heat. Spray again with Misto and add the shallots and garlic and brown, add a bit of water or the wine to deglaze the pan scraping up any brown bits with a wooden(NOT METAL) spoon.

Add the rest of the stock and water and turn the heat back up.

Add the tomatoes and the dried herbs. Stir well.

Add the Seared chicken and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a high simmer and cook 20 minutes.

Turn the heat back up and add the cabbage and stir well. When the cabbage has wilted add the fresh herbs. Season with salt and pepper and serve into 4 bowls.

Each gets 2 pieces chicken and 1/4 of the Cabbage broth.

  • 1 whole, boneless, skinless chicken breast, diced [142 Calories]
  • 1 head green cabbage, shredded (approx 2 cups) [34 Calories]
  • 2 red or green bell pepper, chopped [48 Calories]
  • 2 carrots, shredded (approx 1 cup) [45 Calories]
  • 1 small onion, chopped (approx 3/4 cup) [36 Calories]
  • 2 chicken bouillon cubes [10 Calories]
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper, or more to taste and tolerance [6 Calories]
  • 1 tsp dried thyme [1 Calorie]
  • 1 pinch each of salt and pepper, to taste

Directions

Dice up the chicken and place in a large soup pot with just enough water to cover the chicken (approx 2 cups).

Boil for about 30 minutes, then add the vegetables, adding more water to cover all ingredients.

Mix the bouillon cubes well at the beginning.

Boil for another 10 minutes, then add the spices.

Mix in and serve!

Note: Like a more brothy soup? Add another bouillon cube and more water, for only 5 calories more!
